  • How to find a unique voice of integrity that resonates

    October 12, 2019 by

As you continue to read this blog (which believe me, the organic growth of this has been amazing so far!), you will notice a few things. Yes, I do have an opinion, just as everyone else. What works for me may not work for you. You may even feel that what I am writing is… Read more

  • A comedy of errors…

    October 8, 2019 by

I literally cringed when I read this. This is possibly the most awkward sentence I’ve read so far. This makes me think that this individual is afraid of me saying no. This is not what you go into a sales pitch with. This is how you get eaten alive, spammed, and never replied to. This smells of template. I’ve learned how this company is different, and it’s not.

  • The coldest warms up?

Invite them to a conversation, not a call. They know it will be longer than the duration you state, so propose a “quick” or “short” conversation.

  • The coldest of the cold

    September 30, 2019 by

Now, I could start with the signature of this email, which absolutely made me cringe. It’s absolutely not compliant with the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing Act of 2003 (CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 or CAN-SPAM as will be used in the remainder of this site), but there are many other spam crimes to name.

  • Spammed: Me showing the bank account…

    September 30, 2019 by

Forgive me manager, for I have sinned, it’s been 2 weeks since my last one to one. I have committed 3 acts of automation abuse, sent 4 blind LinkedIn requests, and 2 times have connected and pitched, badly.

Did I do all of these sales sins in a single two week period? Probably in a single day at one point in my career. It wasn’t even the worst of them

  • The hunt for the elusive message

    July 10, 2020 by

9 years If you had a glimpse of something 9 years ago. 90 seconds to see it. If it grabbed you, pulled at your heart strings, only to disappear, would you chase it or give up? When I got married in 2011, we didn’t have a huge ceremony. It was a courthouse wedding. My representative… Read more

  • Sales in the modern era: Empathy, communication, and curiosity.

    July 6, 2020 by

Sales people are more important than ever in the era of instant information. Transparency in sales and marketing was an uneven playing field and rather than resulting in customers relying on sales people. The lack of transparency that once existed led to sales people being seen as swindlers, not consultants or allies in the process… Read more

    July 4, 2020 by

Black swans were once thought to be a myth. They were animals that were the idea of artists and poets. Known unknowns. That was until the British Colonized Australia and discovered that they were real! The true unknown unknowns that Donald Rumsfeld so eloquently later coined. These are events that you could never have planned… Read more

  • Travelin man – Relocating, returning, and tribe building

    May 21, 2020 by

How many New England winters can one endure? I’m sure an infinite amount, I’m just a Southern boy at heart. Not too far South, but just around the mountains, the beach, and the sweetness of accent matches my tea. That’s where a salesman sells best. Over a week left till I drive solo down I-95,… Read more

  • Community in a time of crisis

    May 8, 2020 by

In 7 years abroad, I never once took a language course. I taught courses, in my native tongue of English. I didn’t take Spanish classes, though. I should have. It would have greatly enhanced my career, would have made for more meaningful conversations. But, I didn’t take the time. I felt other things were worth… Read more
